Sold as both Nickel Alloy 718 and Inconel® 7l8, alloy 718 is a high-strength nickel-chromium material. This age-harden alloy offers outstanding corrosion resistance and exhibits characteristics that make it easy to work with for fabrication purposes. Other key properties of Nickel Alloy 718 and Inconel 7l8 are:
- Excellent relaxation resistance
- Can be fabricated into even the most complex parts
- Offers a wide temperature range -423°F(-253°C) to 1300°F(705°C)
- Outstanding tensile, fatigue, creep, and rupture strength
- Gamma Prime strengthened
- Excellent oxidation resistance up to 1800°F(980°C)
- Available in annealed temper, aged, cold worked, or cold worked and aged
Because of its unique array of properties, alloy 718 is popular with a number of different critical industries and applications including:
- Gas turbine components
